“I’m not 100% on the details right now, but from what I understand: Players with the Bo-Rifle will drop a pickup when they die. Anyone who collects that pickup will unlock the Bo-Rifle. And then they’ll also drop a pickup when they die etc.
EDIT: To clarify, by pickup I don’t mean something like the thermal imploder. Once picked up, it’s permanently unlocked and available alongside your other weapons
Fun Fact: This is also how Lasat Bo rifles are passed on in canon – you have to defeat the owner in honorable combat to earn the right to use one.

Uninspired Zebra did some data mining to find out the Star Wars Battlefront Death Star DLC Bo-Rifle Weapon Details. Players with this rifle will drop the pick-up when they die. Anyone who collects that pickup will unlock the Bo-Rifle. And when they die they will also drop that pickup.
Now, this pickup won’t work like other pickups in the game that provide single use. This includes weapons like the Smart Rocket or Thermal Imploder. Instead, once a player picks up the Bo-Rifle, it will be permanently unlocked alongside other weapons. So, when we say “Viral Pickup”, we mean that once it’s released, it will be unlocked by almost everyone in the game in a matter of days.
