Xiaomi fans are eagerly waiting for the announcement of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, successor to the Mi MIX, which was announced in October last year. It seems that the wait is now almost over as the new information arriving from China suggests that the new Mi MIX 2 may launch on September 12.

The rumor mill has revealed that the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 is codenamed as Chiron, and is expected to support a bigger screen-to-body ratio of 95 percent. The original Mi MIX featured a 91.3 percent screen-to-body ratio. A leaked render of the alleged Mi MIX 2 suggests that it has a super-slim bottom bezel while the other three sides of the display have a bezel-less design.

Like other flagships of 2017, the Snapdragon 835 chipset is rumored to power the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2. The base version is expected to feature 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage whereas the higher end model is speculated to come with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.

A 5-megapixel OV5675 selfie snapper and a Sony IMX386 rear camera are speculated to be available in the Mi MIX 2. The phone will pack a 3,400mAh battery to keep the lights on. The ear piece present on the original Mi MIX will be replaced by cantilever piezoelectric ceramic technology that will not only consume less power and space but will also provide the improved sound quality.

The arrival of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 seems to be close at hand because its predecessor is now available with a price cut. The newer Mi MIX 2 is expected to launch with a costlier pricing. The 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage model is rumored to cost 3,999 Yuan ($600), and the higher model is pegged to be available for 4,999 Yuan ($750). The smartphone is expected to sell in a new color option of Bright Silver.

The highly anticipated Apple iPhone 8 is speculated to get announced in September. Even though Samsung and LG are its major rivals, they haven’t dared to debut their respective flagships such as Galaxy Note 8 and LG V30 in the same month. Now, it seems that Xiaomi’s Mi MIX 2 will be one of the major rivals of the iPhone 8 as it is now expected to unveil at the same time.
