Try Conquering as Many Cities as You Can During Early Game

In Civilization 6, during Ancient Era, players can declare Surprise Wars without suffering a Warmonger penalty. Also, during the Ancient Era, cities are poorly defended since there are no walls that can offer additional protection. Just be sure to have enough units to assure the protection of both newly conquered and cities that you built.

The best strategy is to construct a strike team consisting out of one Archer, two Warriors, and three Cavalry units. After city walls become available, conquer cities with Siege and Support units. One unit should soak up the damage from cities’ defenses, while other units are taking down the town’s health. And don’t forget, taking Capitals of other Civilizations is a key move.

It’s best to place some defensive units in each of your cities, so they can defend the town while you are conquering other cities.

Aim For Capital Cities

Domination Victory is granted to a player who holds all established Capital cities. It’s best to first cripple other Civilization by destroying its large and powerful cities before heading for their Capital. Don’t let a Civilization you wage war against to recover, you should destroy it completely.

Don’t Wage Wars For Too Long

Later in the game, a Warmonger penalty for war declarations will make conquering other civilizations fairly difficult. It’s best to take a break from your war efforts until you research the Nationalism Civic. Nationalism Civic will allow you to wage a Colonial War, giving you an option to attack Civs that are two tech eras behind. Warmonger penalty for waging Colonial War are halved, giving you a chance to develop your cities while at the same time waging wars with other Civs. And be sure to invest a fair amount of Science so you are able to trigger the Colonial War as one of the choices in the Casus Belli system.

Achieving a Domination victory is much easier than trying to win with Science since the new Civilization 6 greatly encourages combat. Waging war against other Civilizations will also make them halt their progress in order to defend from you, so aiming for a Domination Victory is one of the best ways to win A Civilization 6 game.
