Valkyria Revolution is coming to the West

Valkyria: Azure Revolution will be released in Japan for the PS4 and PS Vita on the 19th of January 2017. And now the game will also release in the rest of the world as Valkyria Revolution. It’s a spin off from VC but it’s not the same. This is a new game and should NOT be judged by VC standards.

They are doing a spinoff and changing genres for that isn’t completely unreasonable. But it can still be judged by VC standards. They are using Valkyria name to bait in fans of the original series. If they just wanted to do something similar but different then they could use a completely new name.

The reason for having it as Valkyria: Azure Resolution is probably to show that it’s in the same kind of universe. But without the chronicles, it shows that it’s different. This game is clearly a spin-off. Valkyria Chronicles is an established IP. So obviously they will use the name again. Same thing Square has done with Final Fantasy. Plenty of spin-offs using that name. Nothing wrong with that. It’s their IP and so they will use it. It’s business. If you have big doubts, wait for reviews and if you’re still doubting then don’t buy it and play something else.

Thanks to the opinions gathered by the demo, the dev is planning a partial restyle of the gameplay. Adding more strategical aspects and a strong customization of the characters. For meany, it will become something similar to White Knight Chronicles or Star Ocean).
