Samsung fans rejoice, as the company has started rolling out the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for the Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 today. The new update has been rolled out on specific networks and is being received by users in the US as well Canada. You will get the new update if you own a Galaxy S6 on the Telus network or the Galaxy Note5 on T-Mobile.

The Galaxy Note5 Marshmallow update carries version number N920TUVV2DPD1 and is 1.42GB in size. A lot of other T-Mobile customers have been receiving the update on the Galaxy S6 Edge+ as well. Meanwhile, Telus’ Galaxy S6 Marshmallow update, which was initially set to release in March, is now available as an OTA update in Canada.

Do note that these new updates for both the phones from the carriers push the devices straight to the latest Android 6.0.1 version, which comes with all the latest April security patches and new emojis. You will also get a new App Drawer with a fresh design, better battery life with Marshmallow’s new Doze feature, a better app permissions system that will lay more control in your hands, and more.

If you own the aforementioned devices on the right carriers, then you can expect the OTA update notification to land anytime now on your phone. However, if you are one of the more impatient users, you can check for the update manually by navigating to Settings > About device > Software update.
