Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization takes place in one of the stages set within the original Sword Art Online and will give fans the chance to experience the “Sword Art Online” world from the very beginning. Taking on the role of Kirito, players enter a new VRMMORPG world called “Sword Art Origin”, which was created on the game’s original server, giving players flashbacks of memories from past events. Players will enter the early period within the “Sword Art Origin” world and must find a way to win the game one more time.
Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization has an impressive cast of characters
There are some cool male characters to draw from the books, particularly in the Progressive series where Agil fights bosses regularly. Lind and Kibaou lead rival guilds, Nezha and the Legend Braves are all guys, and the antagonist of the Laughing Coffin subplot, is also a guy. But, Bandai Namco will most likely take the series’ harem problem and dial it from four to eleven.
Possibly we’ll also see Eugene, Thinker, Kibaou, Grimlock, Caynes, and Schmitt. Maybe the male members of the Sleeping Knights will also be seen. There are a number of characters they could pull in, and we know they know about them because every one of them shows up in the mobile MMO “Black Swordsman”.
The games are pretty blatant about catering to SAO misguided harem fanbases compared to the anime and especially compared to the books. But there are male players in both of the other games, so that’s something you don’t need to worry about. We just hope the gameplay makes up for more annoying aspects of the SAO video game franchise. The second game, Lost Song, definitely toned down the harem focus compared to Hollow Fragment and was more balanced and entertaining as a result.
