Sony seems to be taking good care of its flagship offerings as far as the software updates are concerned. After rolling the Android Nougat 7.0 update to Xperia XZ and Xperia X Performance a few months ago, the Japanese OEM is back again with Android Nougat 7.1.1 update for the same smartphones.
The latest software release from Sony sizes at 650 MB and comes with build number 41.2.A.2.199. The most important feature to arrive via the latest firmware is Android Nougat’s app Shortcuts. For the time being, they only work on Xperia XZ and Xperia X Performance with a compatible launcher. The default Xperia Home launcher doesn’t support this feature.
To get the latest software update on your Sony smartphone, visit the Settings menu on your smartphone and check the System updates. The rollout is happening in phases so it might take some time to hit your particular device in a particular region.
For those who don’t know, Android Nougat 7.1.1 was released by Google in November last year. The rollout for the Nexus devices happened a month later. As for the changes are concerned, the Nougat OS comes pre-loaded with features like Multi-window, Doze on the Go, and other software enhancements.
