Intex Cloud Scan FP has been launched in India at Rs 3,999. The entry-level smartphone sports a fingerprint scanner on the back, as its USP. Previously, seen as a premium feature, Intex has brought the ‘fingerprint scanner’ to entry-level smartphones.

Earlier this month, the company launched the Aqua S2 with a fingerprint scanner at Rs 4,490. The new smartphone is exclusively available via Snapdeal. It comes in Champagne and Dark Blue color variants. Snapdeal is also offering a 20 percent discount for purchases via a Standard Chartered debit or credit card.

The Intex Cloud Scan FP features a poly-carbonate body with metallic edges. The fingerprint scanner is placed below the rear camera. It sports a 5-inch LCD display with FWVGA (854×480 pixels) resolution and a pixel density of 196ppi. The new smartphone is powered by a 1.2GHz Spreadtrum SC7731C quad-core processor with Mali 400 GPU and 1GB of RAM. It comes with 8GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB via a micro SD card.

The budget handset runs on Android Marshmallow OS. It comes several pre-loaded with apps such as Matrabhasha, Dailyhunt, Saavn, OR code, LFTY, Intex service, Fillr, and QTouch.

On the camera front, the Cloud Scan FP sports a 5-megapixel auto-focus rear camera with OV5648 image sensor, f/2.8 aperture, and a LED flash. There is also a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture.

Connectivity options include dual-SIM (micro+nano) card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, AGPS and FM Radio. However, the smartphone is missing 4G support, which can be very valuable for budget users since the launch of Reliance Jio Welcome Offer. It is backed by a 2,450mAh battery, that offers up to five hours of talk-time and up to 110 hours on standby mode.

While the Intex Cloud Scan FP will get an edge over competition, the lack of 4G with VoLTE support might be a significant drawback.
