Overwatch news for this week includes Blizzard’s April Fools attempt. As part of the April Fools day jokes, Blizzard surprised all the fans who were keen to take on the mantle of Reinhardt today.
Blizzard’s April Fools Jokes
All the fans who were chatting and playing as Anchor Tank were surprised to see an additional quote with the messages. The Reinhardt players saw their messages combined with randomly generated Reinhardt quotes. All the text then converted into Caps as well.
Blizzard created a very funny and confusing combination of messages today. Every message sent to players from players was tucked with a short message such as “I AM THE ULTIMATE CRUSHING MACHINE.” The angrier messages were the funniest ones that led to a lot of confusion today for all the PC players.
Other short quotes that appeared randomly with the messages were “FOR GLORY” and “PRECISION GERMAN ENGINEERING”. These type of messages kept on appearing and confusing the players.
Another part of the Blizzard’s April Fools jokes appeared and it literally left the fans in deep shock. As Blizzard has plans for a themed event this year and the new timed-celebration is also in works that’s going to released in early June.
Blizzard shocked the fans by saying that they won’t have the Easter event this year. Following are the words of the game’s director Jeff Kaplan,
“Sorry! We don’t have plans for an Easter event this year. But we wish all of you who celebrate a great holiday!”
The Character Changes
Blizzard has tweaked the character of Orisa a little bit. The character of Orisa will now be available in the Overwatch’s Competitive play mode. This is probably why Blizzard decided to delay the character for the debut on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. basically, they delayed the character for players to learn and master Orisa’s abilities before even deploying her on DP.
Well now, with the latest developments, the character of Orisa can be used in all of the modes. Blizzard has confirmed that. Along with this big news, Blizzard also launched a new PC patch and released the Patch Notes as well.
With the new patch, a lot of major changes have arrived at Orisa’s abilities while in a brawl. The Tank can now slow down in mid-air attacks and fire her weapon as well. This change was formerly deployed on PS4 and Xbox One, it has now been deployed on PC as well.
The new patch is probably made available to eradicate the glitches that were reported in the game. Blizzard has confirmed that;
“Much like D.Va’s Fusion Cannons, Orisa’s Fusion Driver is intended to slow her movement while she is firing. However, unlike D.Va, there was an issue that prevented this slow from working while firing from the air.”
Following are the Overwatch New Patch Notes.
Overwatch New Patch Notes
- Fixed a bug that prevented the Damage Amplified stat from appearing in the scoreboard at the end of a game
- Fixed a bug to prevent Orisa to deploy her Supercharger inside of the payload
- Fixed a bug that prevented Sombra’s “BOOP” voice line from playing
- Orisa’s movement now slows slightly while firing in midair
There are some other changes made to the game’s map, King’s Row, Textures, as well. However, there are no changes made to the major routes, despite the King’s Row being revamped. According to the Blizzard, the development team is also working to bring up some major visual changes. Dave Adams, the Principal Level Designer says that
“London was one of the earliest maps and some of the techs we use to build maps and optimize for performance has evolved.
Some aspects of the art and lighting were updated to bring it in line with the newer maps and make it easier to make updates and changes in the future. That being said I sent your feedback over to our artists and they are taking a look. Thanks.”
Hopefully, all these new changes will be improving the overall game performance along with the characters. There are some other changes coming to the Overwatch gameplay also and they are making waves on the web. Let’s see when and what Blizzard has to say about them. Otherwise, the news of gameplay changes will be considered as a rumor.
