People who follow smartphone news regularly might be knowing about a new rumor that OnePlus is working on a new smartphone for 2015, and the smartphone has been named as the OnePlus X a.k.a OnePlus Mini. There have been a lot of instances when some info about this phone has leaked out, suggesting that this new phone will be a mid-ranger in the affordable category.

A new development has been witnessed in this news today, as GforGames has claimed that they received an anonymous email and the sender claimed to have the knowledge of all the OnePlus Mini details. As stated by the source, the phone will be priced roughly around $250 and the launch date might be sometime in November or December this year.

Specifications

The source stated that the OnePlus X will get MediaTek’s Helio X10 (MT6795T) SoC coupled with 2 GB LPDDR3 RAM @933MHz operating in dual-channel. There will be 32 GB eMMC 5.0 storage, which will be expandable through microSDXC. The phone will come with a 5-inch IPS 1920 x 1080 display and will be covered by 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 or 4 along with a hydrophobic and oleophobic coating.

The OnePlus X will get a 13MP Sony IMX258 sensor at the back with a f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, and 4K recording at 30fps. There will also be a 5MP front camera which will be able to record 1080p videos. The camera setup will most likely be the same as in the Xiaomi Mi 4c.

Then there will be a 3,000-3,100 mAh Li-Po non-removable battery, USB Type-C with Quick Charge 2.0, FM radio, Bluetooth 4.1, IR Blaster, a MT6630 wireless SoC, 1.2W front-facing speaker, and an NFC chip for supporting Android Pay with the help of a fingerprint sensor fitted at the back.

The source claims that the phone will get a plastic shell, which will also be sold separately in different styles and colors. It will be dust and water proof, thanks to an IP67 certification. Also, the primary camera may or may not use MediaTek’s Super Slow Motion recording of 1080p@480fps. Display of the alleged OnePlus Mini will get Panel Self Refresh (PSR), which is also called Display RAM (DRAM) by OnePlus. Content Aware Backlight Control (CABC) is also present in the display and MediaTek calls it the “Smart Screen”.

If the source is to be believed further, custom ROM development will be possible as the kernel source code will be made available for the first time in the history of MediaTek. Helio X10 does not fare well in gaming, so the OnePlus Mini will render the 3D games at a lower resolution like 720p and will then upscale it again to 1080p with the help of MediaTek MiraVision, thus improving the gaming performance and reducing power consumption and heat output.

Price and Release

According to same source, the OnePlus X (Mini) will be priced around $250 and will get a November or December release. As is always the case with such rumors, we suggest you to take this news with a grain of salt until some concrete proof arrives.
