In case you own a recent Xiaomi handset, today might be a lucky day for you. The Chinese smartphone OEM has officially started seeding the latest MIUI 8.2 update. And according to the support policies by Xiaomi, the latest software update will eventually hit a large number of Xiaomi models.

Right now, the update is rolling out to Xiaomi Mi Max, Mi Max Prime, Mi 4i, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Note, Redmi 1S and Redmi Note 4G. Owners of the said device should be on the lookout for an OTA update notification through the Updater app. Once all these devices are updated to the latest OS, more Xiaomi devices will start getting the MIUI 8.2 update.

The next stage of update roll-out will happen on February 20. It will include the Xiaomi Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi Note 3 Qualcomm, Redmi Note 3 Special Edition, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note Prime, Mi 2/2S, Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Redmi 3/Prime, Redmi 3S/Prime and Redmi Note 4.

The latest release is full of useful and important changes to the underlying OS. It includes an improved layout for the notification shade, some lockscreen, and notification visual tweaks, as well as brand new system sounds and ringtones.

Along with the visual changes, Xiaomi has also introduced some new features in the OS. For example, users can now take full control of the built-in automated tasks feature.
