Minecraft Pocket Edition 0.16.0 Update tutorial on beacons
You will need three blocks of Obsidian, 5 blocks of Glass and one Nether star. Place them in this formation: top 3 blocks with glass, for the middle row, have a glass block on each side with the Nether stone in the middle and finally have three Obsidian blocks occupying the bottom row. To obtain the Nether star you will need to defeat the Wither boss. It is a hundred percent drop rate and the only source of it.
Now let’s talk about using the beacon. If you’ve encountered the Beacon in the PC version of Minecraft you know that the bigger the pyramid, the better the Beacon. The size of your block pyramids’ base can range from 3 by 3 to 9 by 9. You have to place the Beacon at the center of the square block base that you create. Once you do that, it will shoot a beacon vertically upwards with a color that depends on the blocks you made the base out of.
To use the beacon just hit. It gives you the option of all available effects based on the size of the pyramid base the beacon was put on. The larger the pyramid base, the more effects available to you. In order to get any of the available effects, you need to pay one emerald, diamond, gold ingot or iron ingot. The size of the beacon’s base also affects how far away from the beacon you can be until your effect disappears. So, if you choose the enhance speed effect from a beacon with a really large base, you can go really far away and still retain that effect.
