Micromax has introduced a new “Evok” series of smartphones in the Indian market in partnership with Flipkart. The first two offerings in the new series are dubbed Micromax Evok Power and Evok Note. Both are budget smartphones in different price segments. Without further ado, let’s dig into the details.

Micromax Evok Power Specifications

The Evok Power is a 5.0-inch 720p display smartphone powered by 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek chipset and 2 Gigs of RAM. Internal storage of the Micromax Evok Power stands at 16 GB, which is further expandable via micro-SD card. Micromax has put an 8 MP shooter on the rear and a 5 MP lens on the front. Even though it’s a budget offering, the company has provided fingerprint reader on the back. The handset boots Android Marshmallow v6 and features a 4000 mAh battery. It is priced at Rs. 6,999. At this pricing, it will directly compete with Redmi 4a and Redmi 3S. However, it won’t be easy to beat the Chinese OEM at its game of price to performance ratio.

Micromax Evok Note

Micromax Evok Note is the bigger of the two and sports a 5.5-Inch Full HD display. It is powered by 1.5 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 chipset with 3 Gigs of RAM along with 32 GB expandable storage. On the camera front, you will find a 13 MP shooter on the rear and an 5 MP camera unit on the front. This one too features a fingerprint reader, 4000mAh battery, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This one is priced at Rs. 9,499 and finds itself in the territory of Redmi Note 4 and Lenovo K6 Power. Both these smartphones feature better specs than the Evok Note and bring a lot more to the table.

While the new series from Micromax isn’t bad, it will face a hard time competing in the already crowded segment. Lately, Micromax hasn’t done that great either so a lot is riding on this new series. However, only time will tell if Micromax can come into the game or not.
