Metal Gear Survive Gameplay Demo was revealed at the Tokyo Game Show 2016 and was pretty impressive. After watching the gameplay demo, we realized Konami was getting flak for no reason. We will break down the whole trailer for you to let you know what new features and updates are in the game. Graphically, the game is practically the same as Metal Gear Solid V. So, keeping that in mind we understand why Konami is getting abused for selling this game for probably the same price as the previous Metal Gear game.
Metal Gear Survive Gameplay is completely supernatural
Right at the beginning, we could see new creatures roaming the lands. One of the four characters is seen knifing one in the back after causing a distraction. However, there is no Pequod here. Instead, an inter-dimensional portal opens and the enemies are consumed by that.
In the game,, we got to see some clever use of traps. One reminded us of the spike barricade in Dead Island and Dying Light. A player shot an unsuspecting enemy with a strange pistol. Afterwards, the other player would push the enemy into the spikes to kill it.
Very intuitive co-op
Aside from being able to assist each other, players can also see each other moving n the map. Waypoint markers can be set to allow teammates to know where to go. You can also see their movement ion the map in real-time. Basically, coordination between friends will be a whole lot easier.
Different body parts can be damaged separately
Konami took the Fallout approach to damage models here. In the demo you could see one of the players surprised by a stray enemy attack. After surviving the encounter, however, the player’s left leg is crippled and he is forced to walk with a crooked foot.
New distraction technique
You could spring a trap by luring unwary animals to a balloon deployment. After the balloon catches the animal and floats helplessly from the ground, nearby enemies would run to it. You can take advantage of so many enemies in one place and lob a grenade or molotov to kill them all at once.
The zombie horde attacks are terrifying
Basically you can’t see too much ahead because of the fog. This is true even after you climb a really high point in the game. And the zombies (because that’s how they behave so we decided to use that term), will start running at you from out of the fog. And that’s where the game gets really terrifying as you are forced to defend yourself.
There’s a bow and arrow which works similar to the one in Skyrim and FarCry. You also have a spear and machete for melee combat. The combat places a lot of emphasis on close quartered combat. Enemies have a shiny red spot out emerging out of their half-cut head. Aiming for that spot is an instant kill.
Setup defenses and craft weapons
These defenses include as simple as wooden barricades. You can craft or buy weapons. These include mounted machine guns, mortars and much more.
Zombies can climb over one another
Yup. Just remember the Jerusalem scene from World War Z where all the zombies stack over each other to get overt he huge barrier. If you let too many zombies crowd near a barricade they could break it down or jump over one another to get to the other side.
