An extensive look at Mafia 3 PC, especially at the options menu clearly proves the game has serious limitations on the PC. If you were pissed at the frame rate locked to 30 fps, then prepare to get even more angered. The options menu leaves a lot to be desired. You have the typical FOV slider but there is an absence of other important options that are essential to the PC experience.
Mafia 3 PC has serious graphical limitations
The game fails to tell us what type of AA it uses, what type of Ambient Occlusion it uses and does not even have any texture detail or Anisotropic filtering options. Even though the game’s graphics can be changed in the launcher menu, we discovered inconsistencies between what we selected in the options and what we got in the game/ This is obviously a glitch the developer will address soon. But for now the game is simply not that desirable to play on the PC.
Hangar 13 has added that they will be adding a frame rate option for PC players. It will allow players to choose between 30, 60 and unlimited fps. However, the Anti-Aliasing has a Low, Medium and High option but no Off option, which forces the player to use AA and make the world look very blurry on the PC. We would like to see an AA off option in a future patch.
“UPDATE [10/6 / 6PM PT]:
We currently have a patch running here at the studio. It includes 30, 60, and unlimited frames-per-second options in the video menu. We’re verifying the patch now to ensure everything is working as expected. If everything goes well, we expect the update to go live this weekend. We will be keeping the PC community up-to-date on the status of the patch throughout the weekend. And thank you for all the feedback!”
