The Legend Of Zelda Breath Of The Wild – Where Does The Game Take Place In The Timeline?

The Legend Of Zelda Breath Of The Wild could possibly take place in the Downfall (Fallen Hero) timeline in between Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past. After the events of Ocarina of Time and before the events of A Link to the Past. And this Link from Breath of the Wild could be the same Link from OOT who almost died in the final battle with Ganon.

Speculation about the exact timeline for The Legend Of Zelda Breath Of The Wild

And now, we see Link awaken/resurrected from “Suspended Animation” inside the Resurrection Chamber with possibly no memory. Think about it, atop of Ganon’s Castle (Formerly Hyrule Castle). When Adult Link almost died in the final battle and Ganon claimed the unified Triforce, the seven sages and Zelda used all their powers to seal Ganon into the Sacred Realm. With Hyrule saved again and Ganon sealed away, the people of Hyrule began rebuilding the kingdom and built a new Hyrule Castle somewhere else away from the ruins of Ganon’s Tower.

100 years have passed and technology has advanced. However, leading up to Breath of the Wild, Ganon broke free from the Sacred Realm to destroy the world. And was then sealed inside Hyrule Castle where we now see Calamity Ganon sealed in Hyrule Castle. On Zeldawiki, if you look up “Ganon” and scroll down through it to Breath of the Wild, it states “100 years prior to (Before) Link’s awakening from deep sleep”.

In the E3 demo, The old man in The Legend Of Zelda Breath Of The Wild stated to Link that, “Since the decline of the kingdom, the Temple of Time now sits abandoned in a state of decay”. The old man said the word, “Decline”. And in page 92 of Hyrule Historia, it clearly says “The Decline of Hyrule and the Last Hero”.
