League of Legends is going mobile! But probably not in the way you think. No, the game won’t be coming to mobile yet, but Riot Games has big plans for supporting the League of Legends community over their mobile devices.

The new app is called “League Friends”, and is available absolutely free and available on Android and iOS. As for what it does, League Friends will allow you to chat with your League friends, and you will get push notifications whenever someone invites you join a game. Not much to start with, but Riot Games has big plans for the little mobile app and will continually expand it with more social features over the course of the year. Appropriate, considering how the base game itself keeps evolving.

The app is currently only available in North America and Oceania, but will be expanded into other regions soon. Keep in mind that you will need a device running either iOS 8.3 or Android 4.1.1 (or newer) to run the app and stay in touch with your League buddies.

Will you be using League Friends? Are you hyped for the 2016 Season? Let us know in the comments below.
