Honor brand from Huawei is reserved for mid-range devices incorporating some features seen on flagship devices. This year’s Honor 6X is a 2016 model that continues the path of the Honor 5X – offering a great mid-range device at a competitive price. Dimensions, Design

Huawei Honor 6X measures 150.9 x 72.6 x 8.2 mm, more compact dimensions than those seen of the Honor 5X (151.3 x 76.3 x 8.2 mm). Reduced dimensions are achieved by including thinner bezels and with reducing the area below and above the screen. The honor 6X looks tighter, more attractive, with modern design. The Honor 5X looks like a budget model, while the Honor 6X has the looks of much more expensive devices.

Both models have camera sensors placed at the upper mid part of the backside, with a fingerprint scanner placed below the main camera. On the front, you can find the large display accompanied by the speaker, sensors, and the front-facing camera.

Hardware, Display

The Honor 5X is equipped with a Snapdragon 617 (4×1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 coupled with Adreno 405 GPU). The phone comes with either 2 GB or 3 GB of RAM and features 16 GB of expandable internal storage. The Honor 6X feature more powerful Kirin 655 chipset (4×2.1 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 along with Mali-T830MP2) made by Huawei. Huawei Honor 6X comes equipped with the choice between 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM and 32/64 GB of expandable internal memory. While the Honor 5X can achieve a score of around 33,000 points in Antutu, Honor 6X should score much higher since it uses a much more powerful processor.

Both models come with 5.5-inch 1080p IPS LCD displays, offering natural looking colors and wide viewing angles. The 5.5-inch display is a regular part of most upper mid-range devices. The size is excellent for gaming, watching movies or surfing the web.

Camera

The new Honor 6X comes with a dual camera setup. It’s equipped with one 12 MP and one 2 MP main camera sensors, enabling superb bokeh effect. The main camera comes with phase detection autofocus, LED flash and HDR. It is capable of recording 1080p@30fps videos. The selfie snapper counts 8 MP.

Last year’s Honor 5X comes equipped with a 13 MP (f/2.0) main camera, supporting autofocus, LED flash and HDR. The camera can record 1080p@30fps videos. The front-facing camera counts 5 MP (f/2.4)

Battery, Software

Battery capacity saw a visible upgrade compared to last year’s model. Huawei Honor 6X comes with a solid 3340 mAh battery, while the Honor 5X offers a 3000 mAh battery.

Both phones run under Android Marshmallow (the 5X came with Lollipop but upgrade to Marshmallow came out in the meantime) and are coated with Huawei’s Emotion UI. Both the 6X and the 5X come with a fingerprint sensor.

Conclusion

The new Honor 6X comes with just the right amount of upgrades to make it a better choice. Yes, the screen stayed the same, but the 6X comes with a dual camera setup, it offers more RAM and has doubled the amount of internal storage. Also, the phone looks much better than the 5X. If looking for a superb mid-range device Huawei Honor 6X has all that you want. Great camera, solid build quality, lots of storage space and excellent hardware.
