HTC One M9 on Sprint and the Developer Edition are already running Android 5.1 Lollipop, but AT&T and T-Mobile variant is still running Android 5.0.x. As it turns out, the AT&T variant is now receiving the Android 5.1 update starting today (i.e. July 15th), according to Mo Versi, HTC’s VP of product management.
Mo Versi has tweeted that they have received the technical approval from Google for Lollipop 5.1 and will be sending to AT&T variant starting 7/15. In a reply, he has also confirmed that 5.1 update for T-Mobile variant is also on the way and should reach by July 20th.
The new update brings bug fixes, improved battery life, call drop fixes, data performance, and most importantly camera optimization. The update also comes with tweaks in temperature control for Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset.
If you are an HTC One M9 user on AT&T, you handset should receive an update notification soon. You can also check update availability manually by heading to Settings>> About Phone>> Software Update.
