Half-Life Movie in development as well

At the premier of Westworld, an HBO show produced by Abrams, he was asked about the state of the previously announced Half-Life movie and Portal one as well. He replied that they are still in development and will be announced soon. This is exciting news and we plan to unpack it all for you.

Back in February of 2013. During the Design Communicate Innovate Entertain summit (DICE), there was a talk held. It was with CEO of Valve Gabe Newell and J J Abrams. Near the end, it was announced that both will be working with each other. They wanted to make movies based on Valve’s flagship franchises. Polygon later asked the producer of Bad Robots about it. He replied “It’s as real as anything in Hollywood ever get”.

He further added about bringing in a writer and try a lot of interesting ideas. Many in the community were skeptical because such projects in Hollywood rarely make it out of the planning stages. On top of that, Valve hadn’t released a new Half-Life game in six years. Much of the skepticism was well based. However, there’s good reason to believe that since then J J Abrams might have something substantial on him.

Jeffrey Jacob Abrams is an American film director, producer, screenwriter, and composer. He is known for work in the genres of action, drama, and science fiction. Valve Corporation is an American video game developer and digital distribution company headquartered in Bellevue, Washington. Its Luxembourg-based business office subsidiary for European regions, Valve S.a.r.l, was opened in 2012.
