Google is releasing Android 7.1 Update to certain Google Nexus devices this month. However, the new update will be a developer preview, not the final build. To get the new update, you will have to register for Android Beta Program.

Google To Release Android 7.1 Update Preview For Google Devices This Month

Google had launched its Pixel smartphones with Android 7.1 Nougat OS, earlier this month. Now, the search engine giant has confirmed that the Android 7.1 Nougat developer preview will be released by the end of this month. The new update will only be available on selected Google smartphones only.

The Android 7.1 Update developer preview will be initially released for Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, and Pixel C smartphones. However, all Nexus devices, that are compatible with Android 7.0 Nougat will receive Android 7.1 update eventually. The final Android 7.1 will be released for all supported Google devices by the end of this year. The eligible devices include Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus 9 LTE, Nexus Player, Pixel C, and Android One devices.

The Android 7.1 Nougat comes with several new features including the support for Daydream View VR headset. It also comes with an image keyboard which allows users to send GIFS without copy pasting links. Other features include will include, night-light, circular app icons, a manual storage manager, app shortcuts, A/B system updates. There is no confirmation about the inclusion of ‘Google Assistant’ as yet.
