Gionee has unveiled its sleekest 5.5-inch smartphone which is just 74.9mm wide at the MWC 2016. The all new Gionee S8 comes in a full-metal body and features a loop full-metal design which places the antenna around the side of the phone.
Gionee S8 sports a FHD AMOLED screen with 2.5D glass on top and it also has 3D Touch just like the one we saw in iPhone 6s. The 3D touch recognizes three levels – Touch (selects), Tap (previews), and Press (opens) and also features a fingerprint reader on its Home key. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box along with Gionee’s own Amigo 3.2 skin.
It features a 16MP front- shooter with a f/1.8 aperture which allows more light to enter the picture and an RWB sensor for replacing the usual green pixels with more sensitive white ones. The camera is loaded with a number of specs and Gionee has promised a 40% boost in sensitivity and 80% reduction in noise.
The smartphone records 1080p video with advanced audio capture. There’s a “multi-dimensional” noise reduction and “3D recording”. At the communication front, the S8 is a dual-SIM phone with LTE and VoLTE.
The Gionee S8 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core CPU chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. This beast of a phone is powered by a 3,000mAh fast-charging Li-ion battery.
A unique feature introduced by Gionee is that users can log into two different WhatsApp accounts at the same time. This is a handy feature which will allow users to keep their work and personal life separated.
The Gionee S8 will be launched at the end of March at a price of €450.
