Xiaomi Mi Note 2 has been launched in China. The new smartphone will offer quite a competition to current high-end smartphones in the market. On paper, the new Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is the Best Alternative to Samsung Galaxy Note 7. While it sports looks similar to the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, let’s see how it compares with the old flagship smartphone. Here’s our Xiaomi Mi Note 2 vs Galaxy S7 Edge Comparison:


Mi Note 2 vs Galaxy S7 Edge

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge sports a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a QHD resolution and pixel density of 534 ppi. The dual-curved display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 4. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 sports a slightly larger 5.7-inch OLED flexible display. However, the dual-curved display only offers a full HD resolution at 386 ppi pixel density.


While the Galaxy S7 Edge is powered by a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and a 4GB RAM, the Mi Note 2 is backed by the latest 2.35GHz Snapdragon 821 processor and up to 6GB RAM. Both devices are supported by with Adreno 530GPU and run Android Marshmallow OS out of the box.

While the Galaxy S7 comes in 32GB and 64GB internal storage options [expandable up to 256GB via a micro SD card], the Mi Note 2 comes in 64GB and 128GB storage options. However, it is missing micro SD card support.


The S7 Edge features a dual pixel 12MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. On the other hand, the Mi Note 2 sports much better a 22.56MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera.



The Galaxy S7 Edge comes with a 3,600mAh battery. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is backed by a huge 4070 mAh battery. While both smartphones support a fast battery charging feature, the Galaxy S7 Edge comes with wireless charging too.

Special Features

Both smartphones come with a fingerprint sensor, an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, compass and a barometer. However, the Mi Note 2 lacks a heart rate sensor. Also, the Galaxy S7 Edge comes with IP68 certification. It is dust proof and water resistant over 1.5 meter and 30 minutes.


The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is priced at $769.99 in the US. While the 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant of Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is priced at CNY 3499 [approx. $516]. The huge price margin puts Mi Note 2 way above the Galaxy S7 Edge, despite few shortcomings.


The powerful and reasonable priced Xiaomi Mi Note 2 seems like a better choice on paper, when compared to the Galaxy S7 Edge. We will have to wait to performance reviews in real world conditions, to be sure.
