Clash of Clans developers took a serious summer break; the game hasn’t been updated in months, but the summer’s over so we all can expect a new update during the next couple of weeks. Supercell team returned to work during August, promising a new update for the end of September. Now that the September came and is nearly over but there’s no sing of an update.
Nevertheless, the team is working hard, trying to bring the long-awaited patch soon. Supercell forum moderator said that
“The update will be here when it is ready, whether that is September or not… I can’t say,” hinting about a possible early October release. He also noted that “Of course the team will aim to have it out ASAP, but no set date or even month has been stated. My point is this, don’t start update hype or raise expectations when nothing official has been put out.”
Anoushka, a Supercell team member pointed that
“Neither I nor Marika stated that the update would go live in September for sure. That’s what we are aiming for, but it may as well happen in October Hang in there, we’re working on it.”
Opposite to previous two statements, one Reddit member going by the name of Chief spAnser, posted a few days ago, telling that the Clash of Clans stage server (a server where a new version of the game is shipped prior to public release) has been updated to v8.481.x; the move suggests that the game will update soon, with Sneak Peek period coming quite soon. Chief spAnser already predicted the release of the latest Clash Royale update.
Although no official info regarding the upcoming update was released, we can expect a ton of new content, since the game hasn’t received any update in quite a while. One sure thing about it is that a new Clan Challenge mode is coming.
Supercell published a post telling that-
“With Clan Challenges, Clans will be able to issue a Friendly War request to any other Clan daring to accept the challenge,” and that you’ll be able to “Choose war participants, set the duration of preparation/battle days and send your Clan Challenge request! As soon as the opposing Clan accepts the request, preparation day will begin. This feature is not meant to replace Clan Wars (you can’t issue a Clan Challenge while there’s an ongoing Clan War), but it will offer better support for events.”
Friendly War will allow your clan to send a friendly war request to another clan, and they can accept it or deny it. Supercell posted another hint recently, announcing a live stream that could reveal new features. Marika, a member of Supercell team posted that “The next update is in the works and while getting ready for sneak peeks, we’re also preparing a live stream around the new features and content! It won’t be just about the update – let’s also have a little bit of fun and see which one will be stronger – Ground or Air! While only ground troops or only air troops might not be your usual army composition, neither will this be a normal Clan War. Yes, it’s time for a Friendly War! Ground vs Air live stream coming on October 9th at 3pm UTC!”
Rules for participating in the Ground vs. Air Friendly Wars can be seen here. It seems that full release of the next Clash of Clans patch won’t happen before October, with Sneak Peek event starting during the last week of September.
