Samsung halted the production of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphones. If you were excited about the new Note 7, don’t be disheartened, there are still many options in the market. The ill-fated Samsung Galaxy Note 7 offered quite unique features along with powerful performance. While Apple has come up with new iPhone models, Android lovers can choose from the likes of the LG V20 and the Google Pixel XL. Both smartphones offer great quality build and latest specs. Let’s see which of these handsets is the Best Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Alternative!
The premium looking LG V20 is made from glass and aircraft-grade aluminum. On the other hand, the Pixel XL looks like Google’s version of iPhone 7. While the LG V20 is much lighter than its predecessors, the Pixel XL wins is the much lighter smartphone comparatively.
The LG V20 sports a larger 5.7-inch display compared to Pixel XL’s 5.5-inch screen. The V20 uses IPS Quantum screen with QHD resolution as a primary display. The secondary display has a resolution of 1,040 x 160 pixels. While the Google Pixel XL, sports an AMOLED display with QHD resolution.
While LG V20 is powered by Snapdragon 820 processor, the Pixel XL is faster, thanks to a Snapdragon 821 chipset. Both handsets are supported by Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB DDR4 RAM. The LG V20 comes in two storage variants – 32GB and 64GB [expandable memory via SD card]. The Google Pixel XL also adds a 128GB variant [ono-expandable]. The lack of an expansion is quite a drawback, especially considering the 4K recording capability. Both run the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
As per DxOMark, the Pixel XL’s camera is the ‘best smartphone camera’ to hit the market. The 12.3MP camera got a higher rating than even iPhone 7 . The Pixel XL can capture sharper pictures. However, the LG V20 comes with a larger 16MP sensor, which in addition with the wide-angle lens with an 8-megapixel sensor is likely to provide more detailed pictures. Still, the Pixel XL camera gets an edge with its HDR+ feature and a dual-LED flash. It can also capture 4K videos with 1080p resolution at 30fps.
Both smartphones come with usual connectivity features along with USB Type-C reversible port for data transfer and charging. They also sport a fingerprint sensor.
While the LG V20 comes with a 3200mAh battery [removable], the Google Pixel XL is backed by a larger 3450mAh battery [non-removable]. Both devices come with Quick Charge 3.0 for fast charging.
The LG V20 is priced at $800 and comes in Pink, Silver, and Titan color variants. On the other hand, the Google Pixel XL costs $770.
Both handsets are equipped with the latest processors, impressive cameras, and QHD displays among other features. Still, the Google Pixel XL has more plus points than the LG V20. The faster processor and impressive camera along with a larger battery make it a better Note 7 alternative. However, the lack of memory card slot might change few decisions.
