2016 was a pretty interesting year for drone fans. We saw lots of new models, some companies started using drones for shipping purposes, and it seems authorities of many countries finally acknowledged the growing drone presence since many of them signed bills regulating drone use. Anyway, there are lots of cool models, the prices are also better than ever, so let’s check out some of the most interesting models from this year.

Skeye Pico Drone

This miniature drone is quite interesting. Of course, it won’t be interesting for serious drone aficionados but if you want a drone able to perform tricks, and is quite precise while flying Skeye Pico Drone may be a perfect choice.

The drone can land literally on a palm of your hand, and it looks pretty cool too. As a cherry on the top, it costs just $49. The only downside is the flight time (7-8 minutes) but since the drone is more of a toy than a proper drone the flight time is solid.

Parrot Disco

Parrot Disco doesn’t sport classic quadcopter form; instead, the drone looks like a futuristic RC airplane. It isn’t capable of hovering, but its flying capabilities are still very advanced. One cool feature is a camera mounted on its tip, and since the drone comes with a headgear wirelessly connected to the camera you can watch the live video like being up in the air yourself.

The drone also comes with pretty cool looking controller, and is currently on sale on Amazon, going for a bit under $900.

DJI Mavic Pro

Incredible flight capabilities, modern design, excellent camera, lots of advanced features, and a price that won’t make you sell your car just to get it, all that can be used to describe the DJI Mavic Pro, one of the most wanted drones of 2016.

Its camera can shoot in 4K, it can track designated target via face recognition, it is compact but extremely maneuverable, and you can use without problems even if you never piloted a drone. Cool model, with a solid price. It can be found for $999, just be aware that shipment is still problematic, you’ll have to wait for a couple (or more) of weeks in order to receive one.

DJI Phantom 4

Superb flight capabilities, and the ultimate camera drone, the DJI Phantom 4 is a drone for people who like to record cool looking videos, as well as for professionals who demand excellent video quality.

The drone sells for $999, but there are plenty of accessories for it so be ready to pay more. The drone is easy to fly; you don’t have to possess any experience in order to enjoy it and to record striking videos with it. Along with DJI Mavic Pro, DJI Phantom 4 is the best drone of 2016.

GoPro Karma Drone is also one very interesting model, perfect for GoPro camera owners. The problem is that the drone has been recalled. It seems it suffers from battery issues since many users reported the drone loses power while midair, leading it to crash.
