Week 43 was a pretty decent week for Android Nougat updates. Here’s a quick recap of all that happened in the world of Android Nougat this week. Beginning with OnePlus devices, this week saw news related to the flagship killers OnePlus 2 and OnePlus 3’s possible Android 7.0 update during December. Unfortunately, OnePlus X will not get the update since devices sporting Snapdragon 801 chipset aren’t compatible with the new Android version. Samsung is also expected to release Android Nougat update between October and December for Galaxy S6, S7 and Galaxy Note 5. The official update is likely to land only in December, but users can expect a beta update for few models before December.
Meanwhile, Google has decided to ship the latest Nougat 7.1 to Nexus devices. Nougat preview update is available for Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Pixel C tablet. Nougat should also arrive on Nexus 9, Nexus 6, Nexus Player and selected Android One devices by December. Google Nexus 7 (2013) owners can also get the latest Android OS on their device in the form of Android Ice Cold Project (AICP) custom ROM. Motorola, on the other hand, is still contemplating the firmware roll-out for recently launched Moto E3 Power. At this point in time, the company has not confirmed or announced anything about the device receiving the Nougat update. So it looks like Moto E3 Power users will have to settle for Android Marshmallow for now.
While Xiaomi Mi 4 and Mi 3 users have to wait for a while for the latest Android update, impatient users have the option of installing Nougat-based Android Open Source Project (AOSP) ROM for both devices. The AOSP Custom ROM comes with the latest Android Nougat features along with exclusive themes, visually appealing interface, performance tweaks, and other features to enhance user experience.
