You may recall the Oppo R5, the 4.85mm thin handset which was released about 10 months back. The Chinese brand has beefed up the cellphone with the new Oppo R5s version. Improvements in the specs section was a requirement here, particularly considering that the performance of the Oppo R5 on some standard evaluations had not been spectacular. Keeping the 4.85mm thickness, the Oppo R5s will still be one of the thinnest phones available in the world.
The upgraded variant maintains a 5.2-inch, 1080 x 1920 resolution display located on the Oppo R5. That works out to a 424ppi pixel density. The Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 SoC still process the tasks with an octa-core 1.5GHz CPU, and the Adreno 405 graphics processor. The quantity of RAM has been increased from 2GB to 3GB, and internal storage has also boosted to 32GB from 16GB. The phone still doesn’t feature expandable storage with a microSD card.
The cameras stay the same, like the 13megapixel rear snapper that uses the Sony IMX214 sensor, with an aperture of f/2.0. The 5 megapixel unit on front side also includes an f/2.0 aperture. A 2,000mAh battery keeps the things active, and comes with Fast Charge technology. Supporting 4G connectivity, the Oppo R5s runs Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) with the ColorOS 2.0 UI on top.
Oppo R5s is listed on the European website of the company, and is priced at the equivalent of US$ 226. The site doesn’t reveal any specific date for availability.
